Folk Art

I had the great pleasure of co-producing this beautiful record with Claire and Jonathan Kingham. We spent the better part of a week holed up in the wilds of Northern California with engineer Martin Woodlee recording these songs as a flexible, agile little music crew. In addition fulfilling to my usual guitar and textural roles, I also programmed and played all the drums and most of the bass. There's a lot of real musical moments that actually happened on this record, and it comes across when you listen.

Claire is such an open and easy artist to work with - she encouraged us to go deep into these songs and frame them cinematically. Many of the arrangements became like miniature minimalist sonic movies...I became very interested in seeing how little we could get away with in the arrangements. A splash of light here...a piece of furniture there...an almost architectural approach to the singer songwriter record. Folk art.

Please check it out, and if you are so inclined buy it on BandCamp. The artist gets more out of each sale, and you at least have the option of downloading higher quality audio. For convenience sake, it's also available on iTunes and Amazon.
