Adam Levy and Dan Phelps - Guitar Workshop!

Join us at Emerald City Guitars in Seattle, WA on Sunday, March 8th, 10am-5pm, for the premier live guitar workshop event of 2020! Adam Levy and Dan Phelps will lead you through an inspiring guitar odyssey at the iconic shop in historic Pioneer Square. Adam, Dan and friends will also play a show on Saturday, March 7th, 7pm at Storyville Coffee in Pike Place Market.

Do you want to up your guitar game in 2020? Come get a major hit of musical inspiration!

Topics will include (but not be limited to):

  • What Should I Practice?

  • How do I develop my own sound?

  • How do I stay inspired and get through ruts?

  • How do I deepen my improvisation skills?

Join renowned guitarist and songwriter Adam Levy and sonic adventurer Dan Phelps for an evening of songs and improvisations with a rotating cast of highly musical guests!

Adam Levy has worked with Tracy Chapman, Norah Jones, Ani Di Franco, Meshell Ndegeocello, and many other artists. He has released a dozen recordings of his own music. He’s written lessons for all the major guitar magazines, including Guitar Player, Fretboard Journal, and Acoustic Guitar. Adam is currently an instructor at the Los Angeles College of Music and offers monthly subscription guitar lessons at Guitar Tips Pro. More info at  adamlevy.com.

Dan Phelps has worked with Tori Amos, Kings Kaleidoscope, David Wilcox, Matt Chamberlain, Viktor Krauss, Jim Keltner, and many others. He’s released several solo projects and collaborations under the Oceanographic Records label. For the last several years he’s been developing his solo live looping skills (featured on the album VESSEL) and creating content about guitar playing and music production on his YouTube channel.

I’ll be opening for the brilliant Mike Baggetta, who is on an album release tour with an INSANE band. Check it out:

A truly one-of-a-kind trio led by guitarist MIKE BAGGETTA, featuring punk legend bassist MIKE WATT (Minutemen, Iggy Pop and the Stooges, fIREHOSE) and drummer STEPHEN HODGES (Tom Waits, Mavis Staples, David Lynch). The music they play is utterly unclassifiable. Referencing it as post-genre-improv-jazz-rock may come close, but still doesn't even begin to touch on the wild electric textures Baggetta's guitar alone brings to the table.

This performance is part of the album release tour for WALL OF FLOWERS, out March 2019, Baggetta's latest work issued on the BIG EGO record label featuring MIKE WATT & JIM KELTNER.

We have conjured up a day of music and art, with an intention to take pleasure in the moment. Justyn Hegreberg, Markie Mickelson, Sara Osebold and Drie Chapek are exhibiting work alongside the music of Dan Phelps as well as Robert Deeble and friends at 5:00pm. Please bring a cash donation for Musicians. We have lovely lounging space outdoors and in so the event is rain or shine. 

I'll be going on at 6 PM.

Prehab is home to the ambient/experimental aspects of guitarist Michael Ross' musical output. In addition to his career as a session and sideman, performing notably with the great Eric Andersen, Ross is a an accomplished music journalist, blogger and photographer living in Nashville, TN. Birmingham, AL - Solo Show

Join Dan Phelps for an evening of semi-ambient, fully enveloping music at A Bryan Photo's studio in the Phoenix Building.

Dan is an artist/musician/producer living on Bainbridge Island outside of Seattle, WA. His improvisation based work travels deep into the details of texture and timbre. His releases include Modular, a collaboration with Matt Chamberlain and Viktor Krauss, and his latest release, Arc, which is built on improvisations with drumming legend Jim Keltner. In his live performances, Dan improvises walls of ambience and shifting textures, moving seamlessly from abstract sheets of celestial sound, roots guitar, and astringent noise.

Doors at 7:30pm, show starts at 8pm.

I'll be doing a FREE workshop and show at the Treehouse club on the Full Sail University Campus.

From Full Sail:

Join us for a special workshop featuring musician Dan Phelps, who specializes in
“sonic experimentation.” Dan is constantly working on his own projects and collaborations, and his current fascination is improvising ambient soundscapes. In this workshop, Dan will discuss his artistic process and how he creates his own personal sound.

The workshop at 3:30 PM will be followed by a concert at 7:30 PM, with doors opening at 7 PM. This event is open to all students and faculty, and guests are welcome.
